The factors that attracted me to this product were the glowing audio reviews and then the price. I only use the 4.4. balanced output. I suggest getting a 4.4 converter for your 3.5 cable/wire connectors (inexpensive, effective). The sound is well balanced with good bass, treble. Soundstage is fine though not great. Details in the music are brought out very well. Not a perfect dac/amp, but very good. Build quality is great. I worry about the wire being a bit flimsy, although detachable and can be replaced easily. Gets pretty hot while operating, and I am concerned about longevity. This would adversely affect this review. So far, so good. The weight of the product is perfect for me- it indicates substance and quality. In fact, I use it for commuting and it is more effective, sounds better, compared to my bluetooth dac/amps. For commuting, the flexible wire is essential and I hope it does not break. For the low price, a five star product that enhanced my audio collection.

Drastically improved my listening experience.

The DS1 has mainstreamed my headphone experience. Before getting the DS1, I only used my Highfiman XS headphones with integrated amp. The DS1 lets me plug my headphones directly into my computer, iPhone, an iPad and the sound is incredibly deep and rich. It checks all the boxes for price and performance and is an outstanding value.

An external DAC is one of the best investments you can make to improve the quality of sound from portable devices and the DS1 excels at a very affordable price. Well worth it!

Dry presentation, tight. Very slightly bright. Paired best with IEMs.
